2018 Awards for Excellence Industry Dinner
The Victorian Sausage King, Smallgoods and Hamburger Competition is now in its 21st Year and independent local butchers entered their products for the State Final which was held at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on the 6th October 2018.
Butchers from all across Victoria competed for the distinguished tag of Victorian Sausage King, Smallgoods Maker & Best Butchers Burgers for 2018.
An Independent panel of judges was faced with the task of selecting winners in six categories of sausages; Traditional Australian, Traditional Australian Pork, Poultry, Australian Lamb/open class, Continental and Gourmet/open class, along with Six smallgoods categories; Ham on the bone, Ham off the bone, Bacon, Strasbourg and Kabana, Kransky and also two categories of Burgers – Beef Burger and Gourmet Burger.

2018 Sir William Angliss Victorian Apprentice Butcher Award
The AMIC Apprentice Competition is a nationwide competition and is open to 2nd and 3rd year apprentices in all Independent Local Butcher shops throughout Australia. Winners from each State will compete in the National Apprentice Competition. This is a highly recognised award as these participants are the future of the meat industry.
2018 Victorian Retail Butcher Shop of the Year Award
This award recognises the Independent Local Butcher Shop that demonstrates a highly professional, innovative, inspirational and sustainable business enterprise.
Judging took into account every aspect of a modern retail butcher shop, including: business management and planning; human resource practices; marketing and promotional strategies; and effective customer relations management.
Winners of the State Final will represent Victoria in the National Sausage King and Best Butchers Burger and Apprentice Competition Finals which will be held in Perth in February 2018.
