The Butchers Advocate, November 2020
This week South Australia implemented a circuit breaker from 12:01am Thursday 19 November 2020 for six days aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Through extensive meetings with the Chief Veterinary Officer, PIRSA, the Premier’s department and Stakeholder Reference Groups, AMIC worked quickly to ensure that our members were able to remain open and trade as an essential service, and supply was maintained. This means a competitive and prosperous red meat and livestock supply chain can be maintained that is good for members, good for industry and good for communities.
Throughout the pandemic, AMIC have worked hard to advocate and be the voice of the entire post-farmgate meat industry, from processors to wholesalers to retail butchers. We believe a strong meat industry is integral to the Australian community, and will not stop pushing for change on issues that are important to our members.
AMIC stand united in support for not only our 130+ members in South Australia but all of the Independent Local Butchers and workers in our industry during this time.
We encourage all members to regularly review your COVID Safe Business Plans. If you require advice and assistance about current restrictions in your state please reach out to your local MRO.
