The Meat Industry’s Networking Group for Women

AMIC is committed to actively supporting women in the meat industry by encouraging women to join our industry and supporting women already working within our industry. To fully realise this committment AMIC has joined forces with the internationally acclaimed women’s networking organisation Meat Business Women.

Meat Business Women

Meat Business Women (MBW) is a women’s advocacy networking group founded in the United Kingdom by Laura Ryan – former Strategy Director at AHDB Beef & Lamb, and Pam Brook  – former meat press editor.  The success of MBW led to an international  partnership signing with AMIC in September 2018 to bring together women from across the meat supply chain, including processors, wholesalers, retailers and smallgoods manufacturers to future proof our industry.

 

MBW Committee

Meat Business Women is run on a not-for-profit basis by a committee of highly influential women in our industry, who are all volunteers. Each Committee member in Australia represents a broad range of perspectives with representatives from various businesses, roles and geographical locations. The Committee members are:

  • Dalene Wray – Managing Director of OBE Organic (QLD)
  • Louise Harland Cox – AMIC – National Members Services Manager (NSW)
  • Maureen Gimpel – Bindaree Beef – Group Human Resources (QLD)
  • Melissa Fletcher – Fletcher International Exports – Chief Executive Officer (NSW)
  • Stacey Mckenna – AMIC – Manager – Industry Research, Standards and Capability (VIC)
  • Tania Carey – General Manager – Food Processing Equipment AUS and NZ (SA)

The role of the Committee is to provide strategic direction and help shape the future of MBW Australia through the development and implementation of regular events.

 

Key Objectives

MBW targets women working within the post farm-gate meat supply chain with three key objectives:

  • Develop the image, culture and landscape of the meat industry to make it more attractive to female talent.
  • Nurture new female entrants into the sector through networking, education and mentoring.
  • Skilfully improve networking.

These objectives are realised through networking events, conferences, mentoring courses and sponsorship of educational opportunities.  Although the initiative will be driven by AMIC and AMIC Members, activities will be open to ALL women working in the supply chain.

The Australian Meat Industry Council is all about our members being Retail, Processing and Smallgoods.
