Apprentice of the Year Award 2022
Do you have an apprentice butcher or know of one that is keen to represent their shop and put their skills to the test against others in the trade?
Applications are now open for AMIC’s Apprentice of the Year award.
Apprentices will be required to sit a theory exam, a practical exam and participate in a mystery box practical, where they will be required to create value added products from a selection of ingredients.
Judging criteria:
- Preparation and Performance
- Food Safety and WHS
- Use of Equipment
- Product and Underpinning Knowledge
- Use of Ingredients and Creativity
- Practical Application of End Products.
In addition to the prestige of being declared Apprentice of the Year for their state, winners in each state will win a $500 first prize and runners-up will take home $150. Each state champion will be invited to represent their state at the national Apprentice of the Year competition, to be held in South Australia in February 2023.
