Industry Animal Welfare Standard and Guide

AMIC have recently completed the review of the Industry Animal Welfare Standard. The objectives of the Standard are to enable establishments to demonstrate fulfilment of the regulatory requirements covering the welfare of livestock and ensure good animal welfare outcomes.

AMIC Processor member have been invited to a series of two webinars which have been developed to provide an overview of Version 3: Industry Animal Welfare Standard for Livestock Processing Establishments Preparing Meat for Human Consumption and the new implementation guide.

The webinars are designed to take participants step-by-step through the standard; explaining the intent of each requirement and the type of practical evidence that can be used by establishments to demonstrate fulfilment.

Each session will last 1.5 hours, which includes 30 minutes of time for questions. It is recommended that participants attend both sessions.

The first session will take place on Wednesday 13 October 2021 at 10.30 am AEDT, and will briefly explain the concept of an outcome-based animal welfare standard and provide information on management requirements and resource requirements.

The second session will take place on Wednesday 20 October 2021 at 10.30 am AEDT, and will provide information on the sections of the standard covering management and care of livestock and humane stunning and sticking processes.
