The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) acknowledges the recent changes to the federal government’s ministries. These adjustments bring Julie Collins into the role of Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry, and transition Murray Watt to Minister for Employment.

AMIC congratulates Julie Collins on her appointment as Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry and looks forward to maintaining the constructive relationship established with Murray Watt.

AMIC has valued the productive collaboration with Murray Watt on critical issues such as biosecurity, trade access, and the Agricultural Workforce Working Group during his time as Minister for Agriculture. His efforts have positively impacted our industry, and we look forward to continuing this relationship in his new role as Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, where our industry has many continuing challenges that need to be addressed if our industry is to meet the policy outcomes set by Minister Watt whilst Minister for Agriculture.

We remain committed to engaging constructively with the government to support the post farm gate meat industry and enhance its contributions to regional Australia and the Australian economy.
