AMIC is deeply saddened by the news that Terry Wright, aged 90, passed away on June 11, 2024. His profound influence on the meat industry, as well as his lasting impact on his family, community, and the many listeners who sought his wisdom on the radio, will forever be treasured and commemorated.

Terry was a cherished icon in Sydney’s food community and a pillar at Wrights the Butchers. He was respected as both a skilled butcher and a true gentleman. He was the underpinning author of “Butchers Boys to Men,” a historical piece about butchers in Australia and was best known for promoting the Trim Lamb campaign with the slogan “Where’s the bone?” which shows his dedication and passion to the meat industry. He contributed 50+ years to AMIC as a member and 20+ years to NSW Retail Council, helping to set standards for how butchers operate.

On behalf of the Australian meat industry, the team at AMIC extend our condolences to Terry’s family, friends, and colleagues at this difficult time.

The Wright Family invite all who knew Terry to come together in remembrance of a true community builder.

The funeral will be held next Friday, June 21st, at 11:00 AM at the South Chapel, Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, Military Road, Matraville, 2036.

A wake will follow at 12:00 PM in the chapel grounds.
